Meta-Analysis Shows Cannabis Use Tied To Long-Term Cognitive Decline
Research from the Society for the Study of Addiction purports to show that cannabis use can lead to long-term cognitive decline.
A meta-analysis of other research work, led by an associate professor at the University of Montreal, showed “small to moderate deficits in several cognitive domains”, further linking these declines to persistent effects, lingering long past the point of initial consumption.
American Citizens Losing Faith In Cannabis Decriminalization, According To Polls
In the United States, a new survey shows a majority of American citizens hold little faith that President Joe Biden will make good on his campaign promise to decriminalize cannabis.
58% of respondents to the poll (led jointly by YouGov and The Economist) say they believe President Biden will “make little to no progress on marijuana decriminalization” in 2022, with another 26% saying they were “not sure” what progress to expect in the coming year.

With strong bi-partisan support from career politicians and powerful lobbying groups alike, nation-wide legalization of cannabis seems like it would be a slam dunk for literally anyone willing to pick up the ball and toss it in the net. So what’s the hold up? Politico may not offer an outright answer, but they do at least offer some insights.
Cannabis Consumption As “Staple Food” Evidenced In Ancient China
Researchers from the University of Shandong have found evidence that cannabis was a staple part of the early Chinese diet. While examining a tomb located in central China historians found traces of a sativa-based hemp (including seeds) in a pot containing several “staple foods” of the time.
Cannabis use had been previously found to be common in ancient China for both medicinal and religious purposes, but despite texts referring to hemp as a food source this constitutes the first confirmed archeological find to support the claim.
Thailand Proceeds Toward Decriminalization
And while America continues to spin its wheels Thailand moves forward toward full legalization. Thailand approved medicinal cannabis use in 2018, with the Thailand national Food & Drug Administration now preparing a proposition that would see cannabis removed from controlled substances lists within the country.
New Study Shows Sex Better On Weed (But Not Alcohol)
Meanwhile, this Valentine’s Day, maybe ditch the bottle of wine for a few bong hits instead? Researchers in Spain (because of course this study would be from Spain) have shown cannabis users reporting better orgasms, higher sensations of arousal, and overall happier sex lives than those who used alcohol (either alone, or with marijuana).
The study, surveying 270+ Spanish citizens between the ages of 18 and 30, showed “those who consumed cannabis before sex reported more satisfying experiences than those who abstained from weed or mixed weed and alcohol.”
