The Florida product launch for

’s special strain of bud has been postponed due to the destruction of Hurricane Ian, which battered the state on Wednesday.

The launch, originally scheduled to take place this weekend in Truelieve’s stores throughout Florida, has now been moved to October 8-12.

That is when the Khalifa Kush will hit shelves in the Sunshine State, with live launch events slated to be held in Coral Springs, Hollywood and North Miami Beach. Those events will feature “guest budtending from Wiz Khalifa, live music, giveaways, t-shirts, and something special for patients who show up early,”

.

Millions of Floridians were left without power after Hurricane Ian ripped through the state. The hurricane made landfall in the state as a category four storm. With winds reaching up to 150 miles per hour, it ranks as the fifth most powerful storm to hit the United States.

Trulieve and Wiz Khalifa’s cannabis brand, Khalifa Kush, actually made the decision to postpone the launch event before Hurricane Ian reached Florida.

“The safety of patients and our team is the biggest priority right now,” the Trulieve & Khalifa Kush teams said in a

on Tuesday.

Wiz Khalifa’s Cannabis “Khalifa Kush” En Route to Florida

When the launch event kicks off for real next month, medical cannabis customers in Florida will be able to try the “iconic” Khalifa Kush.

“The Khalifa Kush (KK) strain was developed for Wiz back in the early ’10s, tailored specifically for his personal tastes and held closely within his private stashes in Los Angeles, California,” organizers of the event said in the press release.

“Khalifa Kush’s highly sought-after strain is the best representation of an Indica-dominant Hybrid OG. It’s a strong, well-balanced, all-day smoke with big, impressive, cured buds and a high that’s uplifting, active, and cerebral while remaining clear — perfect for both day and night,” they continued. “Its classic terpene profile is loud and potent, featuring a strong Kush kerosene diesel stench, subtle pine, lemon-lime, chem, and savory pepper. The flavor is a blend of piney Kush, OG fuel and gassy incense that envelopes the palate in a dense, smooth, creamy Kush smoke.”

The launch will christen the partnership between the two sides, with Truelieve set to become “the sole producer, processor, and retailer of Khalifa Kush branded products in Florida.”

Truelieve Across the Nation

Truelieve, with operations in eight different states, has dozens of medical cannabis dispensaries in Florida.

It also has dispensaries in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

“We’re excited to partner with the undisputed leader in the Florida market,” Wiz Khalifa said in the press release. “Trulieve’s dedication to working with the community and creating an amazing customer experience perfectly lines up with our brand values, making them a great fit for our first expansion to the East Coast.”

Earlier this month, Truelieve

that it will soon open locations in Georgia.

“Trulieve is thrilled to receive a Georgia cannabis production license and we appreciate the Commission’s diligence throughout the selection process,” Kim Rivers, the chief executive officer of Trulieve, said in a statement at the time. “We look forward to educating the Georgia market on the numerous health and wellness benefits of cannabis, as well as providing patients statewide access to the medical cannabis they have been seeking.”

The company said that it will “have an initial allocation of five medical cannabis dispensaries in Georgia and will seek to open additional dispensaries in the state as the patient population grows,” with plans to build “an indoor cultivation facility in Adel, Ga., to produce low-THC oil products.”

“The Georgia team is hard at work to begin operations as soon as possible to ensure those in need have access to Trulieve’s line of products,” Lisa Pinkney, the president of Trulieve Georgia, said in a statement. “We’re also excited to share that Trulieve’s operation and its ancillary business partners are projected to create a wide range of jobs in the state as the business grows.”
