You ever just wanna chill out, smoke a joint, and get lost in a cinematic masterpiece, but don’t know what to watch? This list has got all of the best movies to watch when you’re high so that you don’t waste hours figuring out what you should throw on the screen.

In today’s article we have a mix of classic stoner movies, science fiction mind-screws, as well as some weird ones from childhood that are just straight-up strange. Whether you prefer comedies, sci-fi, psychological thrillers or horror movies, this list will have someone for everyone – We’d even recommend doing a movie roulette game to decide what your next stoner movie will be.  Grab your edibles, joints, bongs, vape pens, or (whatever elevated methodology you prefer) and get ready for a world class list of movies to watch high. Let’s begin!

Walt Disney's Fantasia

Fantasia

  • Released: 1940
  • Genre: Animated/Musical

Let’s get started with a true classic, stoned or otherwise: Walt Disney’s Fantasia is a gorgeous animated classic that was released in 1940. This movie features a score performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra and the animation was done by original Disney animators. The story is a collection of short scenes that are animated to the music. This film is an interesting addition to the Disney collection and certainly unique. Watching it stoned can make for a whole new experience, and might bring you back to a weird part of your childhood you may have forgotten about.

The Big Lebowski

The Big Lebowski

  • Released: 1998
  • Genre: Indie/Comedy

The Big Lebowski is directed and written by the Coen Brothers, Ethan and Joel Coen. Jeff Bridges stars as Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski in this film where he is mistakenly taken for a millionaire who has the same name. Far from a millionaire, “The Dude” is a lowlife bowler who now finds himself hunting down the people who mistakenly broke into his home and urinated on his favorite rug (it really tied the room together). Jeff Bridges performance in this movie is everything you need to enjoy a stoned-movie-night-marathon.

Spy Kids

Spy Kids

  • Released: 2001
  • Genre: Kids/Family

Here’s a childhood throwback. Does anyone remember Spy Kids? Has anyone watched it as an adult? This movie is straight-up weird to watch sober, so watching it high is a whole new experience. Spy Kids was released in 2001 and the special effects are… something else. Jump into this action/comedy film that will have you wanting to bust out your “spy kit” (stash, we mean stash).

Tenet

Tenet

  • Genre: Christopher Nolan’s usual blend of wtf

Christopher Nolan does it again with another film that’s going to confuse the heck out of you. He claims to have been in the process of writing the screenplay for this film for over 5 years! Which… may have been a bit too long because this movie is one that you have to watch a couple of times to completely understand what the heck is going on (that’s where the “watching high” part swoops into play). Getting blazed before watching this time-altering action film will make you feel like you wrote the film yourself.

Inception

Inception

After you’ve crossed Tenet off of your list, Inception is another Christopher Nolan twister that you absolutely need to watch while high. Inception has an incredible cast, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Elliot Page, and will leave you questioning whether you are living in a dream or reality. Inception, is a mind-boggling, must-watch film after taking a big hit from a bong. Sit back, relax, get high, and enjoy the intense and dramatic musical score (BWAAHHHHHMM) that this movie has underneath it’s amazing visuals.

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

  • Released: 2010

The original creator of the story Alice in Wonderland probably never envisioned this.

Even if this isn’t the first time you’ve watched Fight Club it’s a movie you can watch again and again and again. The plot is filled with lots of twists and turns that leave your brain questioning what’s actually going on (thankfully the end of the movie doesn’t leave you thinking wtf). This is a film you’ll definitely enjoy being more than half-baked for.
