A United Kingdom-based company announced this week that it has launched an

clinic focused on pain management. Dubbed , the new telehealth service from Kanabo Group is dedicated to providing solutions to problems accessing care faced by millions of patients in the U.K.

“With Treat It, we are putting the power back into the hands of patients by offering secure and easy access to medical cannabis treatments and delivering them right to the doorstep,” Avihu Tamir, Kanabo Group CEO,

from the company on March 13. “We recognize the need for alternative treatments to conventional pharmaceuticals, which often leave chronic pain sufferers frustrated and underserved.”

The new service offers new options for the millions of chronic pain sufferers in the U.K. who face limited access to treatment for chronic pain. The service is built on the company’s telehealth platform

, which accesses patient medical records to provide high-quality treatments quickly and efficiently.

Kanabo’s government-approved online telehealth platform, The GP Service, provides patients in the U.K. with video consultations, online prescriptions and primary care services. The company is focused on improving patient outcomes and providing more accessible healthcare experiences by streamlining access to medical care for patients.

Treat It provides patients with secure online access to an experienced doctor, usually within 24 hours. Through the platform, doctors are able to access a patient’s medical record to assess an individual’s condition and make a recommendation for treatment. Treat It prescriptions for medicinal cannabis formulations are processed and securely delivered by a network of partner pharmacies direct to the patient, usually within one week. Prescription refills are processed and shipped by the next day.

Millions Live With Chronic Pain

The new service provides access to pain management services and treatments for the approximately eight million patients in the U.K. with chronic pain caused by a variety of medical conditions including migraine, sciatica, cancer and multiple sclerosis, as well as neuropathic, back and neck pain. Due to the challenges of accessing effective care, millions of patients with chronic pain are being underserved and left to manage their pain on their own.

According to recent data cited by Kanabo, 24% of chronic pain sufferers in the U.K. are currently being prescribed opioids, suggesting that millions of patients can potentially benefit from switching to

. Kanabo’s treatment portfolio focuses on pain management using medications and treatments including medicinal cannabis, which is currently unavailable through traditional channels.

Chronic pain patients in the U.K. face numerous challenges trying to access effective pain management and care. When seeking care from the National Health Service (NHS), chronic pain patients can experience waits of up to 13 weeks to be seen by a doctor. Once they are seen by a physician, patients are often prescribed conventional pharmaceutical treatments that can have a host of negative side effects including addiction and overdose deaths.

“Millions with chronic pain are suffering in the UK needlessly because they can’t get timely access to medication,” said Suleman Sacranie, the founder of the GP Service. “Our secure patient medical record system is optimized for patient outcomes so that a Treat It doctor will consult with a patient within a few hours and, where appropriate, prescribe medicinal cannabis with delivery possible in a few days.”

Treat It is available now to U.K. patients for an initial consultation cost of £79.99 (about $98), with the cost of

varying depending on each individual case. The service is regulated by the Department of Health and Social Care’s Care Quality Commission and has an ISO 27001 certification, the highest standard for information security. To prescribe medicinal cannabis, a doctor must be registered with the General Medical Council and follow the guidelines set out by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.
